When your aim is to please people, you will not please God. The work of building up the church is the work for God's people. The way we mature in Christ is through what we do for Him. 1) If you do not allow volunteers to work in the ministry you will kill the Christian principle of sacrifice in the church.

2) If you do not allow laymen to work in the ministry you will remove the opportunity for people to demonstrate faithfulness.
