Harmless as a Dove, Wise as a Serpent

Harmless as a Dove, Wise as a Serpent

January 3, 2021

Matthew 10:16 KJV  Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

In this message we learn what it means to be as harmless as a dove and as wise as a serpent. The prophet teaches that we should be harmless towards ourselves, other people, the church, and the kingdom of God. The example of the Madman of Gadara from Mark 5 and Luke 8 is given to explain how we should not be harmful towards ourselves. The prophet also teaches us what we need to master in order to become wise like a serpent.

How Can I Say Thanks

How Can I Say Thanks

December 27, 2020

Ephesians 4:1-2 KJV  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2  With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

In this episode, we learn that true thankfulness comes from the ability to be humble. True humility is stemmed from aspects such as listening to warnings from pastors, understanding that past achievements are acquired with the help of others, making sure the church and pastors are left out of criticisms, and learning from the past mistakes of our parents.

When we are thankful, we are able to achieve great things. In John 6 and 11 of the New Testament, we see the examples of Jesus praying in thankfulness to multiply the food for the multitude and to raise the dead. As we aim to live life as Jesus did, we must also take his thankfulness and humility into account to effectively live as he did.

Being Spiritual During Christmas

Being Spiritual During Christmas

December 25, 2020

If you examined the details of Jesus birth, say, as recorded in Luke 2, many of the details appear as just circumstantial occurrences. But when taken into context with prophecies like that in Micah chapter 5, one begins to see the unfolding of a plan.

Micah 5:2-3 KJV  But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.  3  Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

It would have been hard to have a perspective of what was happening in the spirit for any observers at Jesus' birth, which was prophesied to take place in Jerusalem, but the parents lived in Nazareth. By being spiritual and taking what God is doing around us into account, we can be able to appreciate and take part in what God is doing around us, like Simeon, who had been expecting, and welcomed Jesus at His dedication in the temple:

Luke 2:25-33 KJV  And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.  26  And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.  27  And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,  28  Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,  29  Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:  30  For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,  31  Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;  32  A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.  33  And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

"The people who involve themselves in building the church, whether spiritually or physically have a special grace upon their lives."

When you start to give out of your love, you love has acquired manifestation and proof of sincerity - and it does no go without notice of the LORD - that is why the builders of the Church - physically or spiritually - are blessed.
The account of David in 2 Samuel 7:1-16 shows how for wanting to build the God's house, God promised to MAKE a house for David - a spiritual house and a dynasty that lasts forever - working through and blessing his children and their generations. God even promised to be a father to David's son.

Do you want God's favor to rest on your family and to take care of them even beyond your lifetime?  Then build the house of God!

How To Improve Your Wisdom - Considering, Thinking, Meditating

December 13, 2020

Our wisdom is shown plainly by the way we live out our lives. God invites us (James 1:5) to seek Him for an increase in wisdom in order to improve our lot in life.

In this episode, learn how considering, thinking and meditating allow one to improve their wisdom.

Proverbs 24:30-34 KJV  I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;  31  And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.  32  Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.  33  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:  34  So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

The Art of Following David is the Art of Taking Advice Seriously

The Art of Following David is the Art of Taking Advice Seriously

December 9, 2020

And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me: And BLESSED BE THY ADVICE, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand. 1 Samuel 25:32, 33

When David was upset at Nabal's rude answer to his request for help and he overreacted in going to take revenge on Nabal, his wife heard of the issue and went to meet David and placate him. David listened to her godly advice and calmed down. For she warned him that his overreaction would cause him to sow evil seed that he would live to regret later in life when God brings him into the greatness he had  promised him.

How To Improve Your Wisdom - Notice Things

December 6, 2020
In the Determinants series, we have been learning how unless when things are equalized by time and chance, usually, the race is to the swift, the battle to the strong, bread to the wise, riches go to men of understanding, and favor to men of skill.

Today's episode is about how to influence the outcomes of your life by improving your wisdom through noticing and recognizing things.

James 1:5 KJV  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

The Third Determinant: Wisdom

The Third Determinant: Wisdom

November 29, 2020

Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV  I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the WISE, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Wisdom shows up in the list of determinants as the winner of bread - that is, unless time and chance change the circumstances. Wisdom is the level of skill and judgment in applying the knowledge you have. You can't hide it - when it is lacking, it shows, when it is present it shows in your life!

  • wisdom determines your position and rank in your nation
  • wisdom determines your ability to stay in an elevated position
  • wisdom determines your place in ministry
  • wisdom determines your ability to work  in important places
  • wisdom determines the mighty works that you can accomplish
